According to an Odoxa survey, more and more of you are considering buying a new car, most often an electric or hybrid vehicle. However, there are still a number of obstacles to the purchase of a new car. Let's take a look at some of these pitfalls.

1. The purchasing process is laborious

It is clear that the path to acquiring a new vehicle is often more full of pitfalls than rose petals. There are many obstacles to the decision to buy a new vehicle. Here are a few examples, which will certainly be of interest to you.
  • Budget: buying a new car can be a big investment for many people. It is not always easy to determine a realistic budget before you start looking for a car.
  • Negotiation: depending on the region, make, model and options chosen, the price will vary. The idea of having to negotiate a fair price with a seller can be daunting for some people.
  • Warranties and insurance are essential but often opaque: it can be difficult to understand the different options to choose the most appropriate one.
  • Paperwork: it's a phobia for many of us, isn't it? The thought of having to understand, sign and file the various documents required to buy a new car can be a turn-off for a potential buyer.

2. Obtaining finance can be a real headache

It's true, sometimes obtaining financing for a new car purchase can be complex. Interest rates, repayment terms and credit requirements vary depending on the financial institution and your credit history.
3. It is difficult to choose the right model
There is a wide variety of new cars on the market, each with its own features and benefits. So it can be difficult to choose the car that best suits your needs. And yet, there are salespeople whose sole aim is to lead you to the best choice...

4. Charging and range are complicated for an electric car

The purchase of an electric vehicle is obviously the right choice in view of environmental protection and the European directives towards 100% electric mobility. However, the idea that charging is complicated is still widespread. However, with a large network of fast-charging stations, the charging network in New Zealand is already very efficient and is constantly expanding.
5. Maintaining a new car is an uphill battle

When to change the oil ? How do you get around when the car is being serviced or repaired? How can you be sure that everything you are charged for was really necessary? Everything to do with after-sales service often has a bad reputation, we must admit.
