LAUNCH AND COMMERCIALISATION OF TYPE 3 IN SERIES
The first car in the world to be mass-produced (64 examples), the type 3 traveled Valentigney-Paris and followed the first Paris-Brest-Paris cycling race over 2045 km. In January 1893, the PEUGEOT type 3 was the first car to be driven in Italy.
SEPARATION OF TRADITIONAL AND AUTOMOTIVE MANUFACTURING
The sons of Peugeot Frères continue traditional manufacturing (cycles, tools, etc.) while Armand Peugeot creates the Société Anonyme des Automobiles PEUGEOT.
CONSTRUCTION OF THE FIRST AUTOMOTIVE PLANT IN AUDINCOURT, DOUBS
Abandonment of the workshops for installation in the first factory totally dedicated to the automobile in Audincourt (25). A second factory became operational in Lille (59) in 1898.
PRESENTATION OF PEUGEOT LION CARS
The sons of Peugeot Frères also engage in automobile production under the Lion PEUGEOT brand with a different range of Automobiles Peugeot, thus avoiding competition.
GROUPING OF PRODUCTIONS
Association of the sons of Peugeot Frères with Armand Peugeot and creation of the Société Anonyme des Automobiles et Cycles PEUGEOT. All manufacturing is now part of the same entity.
CREATION OF THE SOCHAUX PLANT
In 1929, it brought together all the production of Automobiles PEUGEOT and became the largest industrial site in France.
In 2012, it celebrates its 100th anniversary, which makes it the oldest car factory still in operation in the world today.
BIRTH OF PSA
"PSA" (Peugeot Société Anonyme) is founded to form the holding company of the automobile group of the same name which owns all the companies of the PEUGEOT Group.
The “PSA PEUGEOT Citroën” group was created in 1976 by the merger of Citroën S.A. and PEUGEOT S.A.
"PSA PEUGEOT Citroën" became "PSA Group" in 2016 and symbolises the dynamism of its 3 strong automotive brands, PEUGEOT, Citroën and DS, as well as all of the Group's other current and future activities.
